MG's Jason Plato expects his, and team mate Sam Tordoff's, MG6 BTCC machine to be the benchmark at this weekends Oulton Park round.
Although Plato and his MG squad expected to struggle at Thruxton, a sixth, seventh and a DNF for the former two-time champion will have provided little solace as he slipped to fifth in the standings as a result.
The opposite of their performance at Thruxton is what the Triple Eight squad expect from Oulton Park this weekend and Plato believes the circuit layout the field will be using this weekend will also play into his hands.
The BTCC will be using the International layout of the Cheshire based circuit as opposed to the Island configuration which most of the drivers have become accustomed to.
“It's definitely a circuit I enjoy. At other events this year we've been quick and Oulton Park should produce some great results. We expect to be the benchmark,” said Plato.
“At Thruxton our performance was as expected but with a tad of bad luck, so it's great timing to be heading back to Oulton Park where I can hopefully add to my nine wins; I'm feeling rather greedy.
“Without doubt we're going to Oulton to win. Some drivers haven't raced on the International circuit, and we definitely hold an advantage over the rest of the pack.”
