Goff: We’re aiming for top ten

Jack Goff says that anything above the top ten in qualifying at Snetterton would be a bonus as the BMR-run driver runs the Volkswagen CC for the first time.
Having made the switch, alongside his team mate Warren Scott, to the VW CC after contesting the first half of the BTCC season in a Vauxhall Insignia, Goff has seemed to adapt quickly his new machine to clock times good enough for second and fifth in each of the practice sessions so far.
Goff, after trailing his elder team mate Alain Menu in the messy FP1 session, was the fastest of the four VW's as the field head into qualifying.
The BMR Racing man currently sits 13th in the standings just four points off his more illustrious team mate Menu at this halfway point of the season.
“Yeah that was our first proper running in the car to be honest,” Goff told crash.net. “FP1 was a bit messy. It was damp, started wet then there were red flags so we only managed one and a half laps then. To get FP2 under our was nice, so now we have a rough idea on how the car handles and can now make a few changes ready for qualifying.
“If we get top ten, we'll be happy with that realistically. First weekend in the car to get in that area, I'll be chuffed with that, anything more than that will be a bonus obviously, so hopefully the changes that we've made will make an improvement.”
Goff says now that all of the Chrome Edition Restart Racing drivers are singing from the same hymn sheet, a steeper curve in development and performance should be on the cards.
“The VW's quite a bit different to the Vauxhall. At the start of the season we thought there'd be quite a lot of crossover between the two cars and that's one of the reasons we've gone to the VW,” Goff continued.
“As a team, we can develop the car together on the same page. I think it's made quite a bit of difference just from changing cars. Fingers crossed now all four of us can work to the same target and we can improve massively quite quickly.”
