Airwaves Racing's Mat Jackson believes tomorrow's three BTCC encounters could throw up an interesting day's racing as the Ford driver eyes to mount a serious victory challenge at Silverstone.

Jackson has qualified fourth for the first of tomorrow's three races to continue his and the Motorbase Focus' rich vein of form, which has seen the combination climb up to sixth in the standings following a slow start to the year.

Having won at Silverstone in 2012, Jackson stated the Northamptonshire circuit is always a round he and his Airwaves squad enjoy travelling to and his shot at claiming pole-position earlier today did not come as much of a surprise.

Jackson admitted that missing out on the top spot by such a slender margin was frustrating but believes his car in race trim should prove a more potent weapon as he vies for a second victory of the year.

"No, I think we always seem to go well around here," Jackson told crash.net. "It's circuit that I like and the car's been good since FP1 really and in FP2 we were P5, so we proved that we've got the pace. It's frustrating to be so close and 'so far' let's say, but that's Silverstone, it always is. I think we're in a good position.

"It's a circuit I do enjoy driving, you got to carry the speed - it's so important to get that entry to exit and just carry the momentum because you can see how tight it is in qualifying. A tenth of a second is a huge gap. Silverstone's always been good to me and hopefully it will continue tomorrow. Hopefully we can aim for three podiums and then obviously that will boost us up in the championship.

"I think traditionally we've always had a very good race car as opposed to a car that qualifies. I think we are in very, very good shape."

Jackson reckons the championship fight between Colin Turkington and Jason Plato could spell a potential race winning opening for himself as the Airwaves driver predicts something is bound to give in their battle for the title.

"It's going to be an interesting race given the fact that you've got Colin in there for the championship along with Jason as well," said Jackson.

"Something is going to happen because Jason needs to get as many points as he can and obviously he needs to get Colin out of it. I think it could be an interesting day. From my side we've just got to avoid getting caught up in any shunts."
