9th – Rob Austin
Average score out of ten: 6.4
12th out of 32
The 2014 season was another year where Rob Austin further cemented himself as the highly capable showman and fan favourite of the BTCC.
Although consistency didn't always favour the Exocet Audi A4 driver, Austin's spectacularly determined style once again handed the 33-year old with a well received repeat victory at the Rockingham Motor Speedway.
For much of the season, though, troubles with the finding the sweet spot in set-up for his RWD Audi hindered his chances of achieving a top ten finish in the final standings. Indeed, Austin either found himself enjoying a solid top-five finish before plummeting back down the pack a round later. Six DNFs and a disqualification at Thruxton for his part in a collision involving Nick Foster didn't help matters either.
But it was within that plethora of high points scoring results where Austin was able score three further podium triumphs – notably with an impressive double rostrum finish at Knockhill - to back up his Rockingham success.
Utilising the apparent pace his Audi A4 possesses on a more frequent basis will be top on the agenda for Austin and the Exocet Racing squad for 2015.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Drivers' BTCC standings, the BTCC Driver of the Year poll asks viewers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, driving style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results.
Thousands of votes were cast for the 2014 Crash.net
BTCC Driver of the Year poll, where viewers awarded each of this year's top twenty classification a mark out of ten.
