The future of the BTCC is clearly in very safe hands as another promising young talent in the shape of Adam Morgan emerged as another first-time race winner in 2014.

Morgan had already created a strong foundation resulting from a solid 2013 season in the Toyota Avensis but the Lancashire based driver made the move to the all new Mercedes A-Class hatchback over the winter under the Wix Racing banner, in turn earning himself plenty of airtime in the distinctive hatchback.

Somewhat inevitably, teething issues compromised Morgan during the early rounds, though flashes of speed in between at least gave a hint of what was to come. When the car did run without fault, Morgan very quickly began to utilise the Mercedes' staggering amount of corner speed to good effect.

His season, despite podiums eluding the outfit almost all season, would have already been classed as a largely successful year in the circumstances for Morgan but a last gasp historic maiden success for Mercedes and the 26-year old - albeit inherited from Jason Plato's post race penalty - will undoubtedly move the combination up the threat scale for 2015.
