It will come as no surprise to reveal that Colin Turkington has been voted as your BTCC Driver of the Year after emphatically wrapping up a second career title in dominant fashion.
Having already spent 2013 reacclimatising himself back into the BTCC following a three year absence, Turkington – along with his WSR squad – upped the ante in 2014 to devastating effect.
Although Turkington's results were nothing to shout about early in the year, a solid start to the campaign left the Ulsterman poised to launch an unrivalled assault in claiming the 2014 honours.
So when the BTCC circus arrived at Oulton Park – prime BMW territory-, Turkington pulled the pin and never looked back. The Turkington/WSR combination proved unstoppable. No stone went unturned in any level of preparation and analysis as the 2009 champion displayed a robotic level of consistency and efficiency in every department.
But with success controversy usually rears its ugly head. Turkington and WSR came under fire from many of the leading FWD drivers, who all claimed the advantage the RWD BMW 1-Series held didn't comply with the NGTC regulations.
Away from the needle, Turkington proved his racecraft was a step above the whole argument when a miraculous comeback from last to fourth around the twisty Knockhill circuit symbolically stamped his mark on the 2014 title.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Drivers' BTCC standings, the BTCC Driver of the Year poll asks viewers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, driving style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results.
Thousands of votes were cast for the 2014 Crash.net
BTCC Driver of the Year poll, where viewers awarded each of this year's top twenty classification a mark out of ten.
