AmD's Nicolas Hamilton comes away buoyant from his first ever British Touring Car Championship practice session after gaining valuable mileage around the Croft Circuit.

Hamilton turned in 13 laps during the opening practice of the weekend before setting the 26th quickest time aboard the ex-Robb Holland Audi S3.

The 23-year old managed to lap within 1.5 seconds of his fellow AmD team mate Mike Bushell, who drives the Kent based squad's Ford Focus.

Hamilton reiterated this weekend isn't about chasing the results as the younger brother of double F1 world champion Lewis intends to treat the event as a 'big test session'.

"It was mission accomplished in terms of achieving what we want to achieve as that is the longest I've spent in the car and it was all about doing as many as laps as we could," said Hamilton.

"It's only the fifth time I've been in the car and the first time I have been here for four years and it's all about learning this weekend - the results aren't important.

"I don't feel I have anything to prove this weekend as being here is an achievement in itself and its all about developing as a driver.

"This is a big test session and if I'm last in every race then so be it. It's more important for me to learn as much as I can rather than push too hard and end up in the gravel," the AmD Tuning driver concluded.
