BTCC series director Alan Gow says he's thrilled to welcome Subaru into the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as a full manufacturer entry in 2016 with Team BMR.

It has been announced that the Japanese manufacturer will enter a pair of Levorg estate machines with Colin Turkington and Jason Plato in an ambitious challenge for this year's titles.

With Subaru's arrival the number of manufacturer supported entries to three alongside Team Dynamics Honda and Triple Eight MG and series director Gow is confident the manufacturer will make a huge impact on the series having been an iconic brand in the World Rally Championship.

“We are delighted to welcome another manufacturer to the BTCC and particularly one with such an incredible motor sport heritage,” Gow said. “Subaru is an iconic brand with a huge following and its introduction to the BTCC is certain to excite our many fans both in the UK and around the world.

“No doubt Team BMR with its hugely experienced and talented driver line-up will make for a very successful partnership.”

Subaru's debut in BTCC marks the Japanese manufacturer's first competitive campaign in racing since the World Rally Championship since 2008 having enjoyed success with its Impreza WRX with Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg.
