Team BMR has completed its driver line-up for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with James Cole joining Jason Plato, Colin Turkington and Warren Scott in its burgeoning Subaru works effort,
Cole arrives in the team having made his BTCC debut in 2013 driving a Team HARD Vauxhall Insignia and competed in a full season driving the United Autosports Toyota Avensis in 2014.
Having spent much of 2015 on the sidelines after his deal to race with Motorbase was hampered by the team opting to sit out the first half of the year, Cole will move over to the four-man BMR effort for 2016
Driving the Levorg Tourer with official support from Subaru, Cole is looking forward to getting his hands on the much anticipated new rear-wheel drive entry.
“I'm very excited to be joining Warren and the talented team of people he has brought together at BMR,” the 27 year-old said. “I've still got loads to learn in BTCC and I couldn't be in a better place to do that alongside Carl & Kevin, my engineer Richard Owen, and two of the best BTCC drivers, Jason and Colin.
“My previous successes came in rear wheel drive so I believe a big step forward can be made this year. I would also like to thank Warren for this great opportunity. I intend to make the most of it.”
Cole's best result from 60 BTCC starts is a ninth place finish driving the Motorbase Ford Focus ST at Silverstone.
