Brands Hatch Indy: Turkington: Subaru making positive steps

Colin Turkington was denied the chance of scoring his first points for Subaru after falling off the track late in the second race but remains positive following the strides made with the new Levorg.
Colin Turkington was disappointed in missing the chance of scoring his British Touring Car Championship points as a Subaru driver after falling off the track in race two but remains positive following the progress made with the new Levorg at Brands Hatch.

The double champion was running inside the points when the race was placed under chaos thanks to mysterious spillage of oil triggering a number of casualties towards the end of the race.

Instead, Jason Plato took Subaru's first points in the BTCC but Turkington was otherwise satisfied after battling his way into contention following his race one woes.

"Not the ideal end but at least the car is getting better. We had quite a strong race to get through the field but I just got caught out on the oil coming into Graham Hill bend," Turkington told Crash.net.

"There was no flag for me when I was coming so I just went straight on. But we're making progress and the car is getting easier to drive.

"We're learning every time we go out onto the circuit. You don't really which way to go because we're doing everything for the first time but we're making small steps forward and heading into the right direction."

While BMR explore different avenues of set up as they seek to unlock the true performance of the Levorg, Turkington says he's now beginning to feel more comfortable in the car.

"The more time I spend in the car the more I get comfortable with it. The car is running really well. The guys have done a great job so it's good to get it to the finish in these races," Turkington concluded.
