Thruxton: Jordan storms to the front in opening Thruxton practice

Motorbase Performance's Andrew Jordan lays down an early marker by setting the pace during the opening BTCC practice of the weekend at Thruxton.
Motorbase Performance's Andrew Jordan has fired an early signal of intent by hitting the front during the first British Touring Car Championship practice of the weekend at Thruxton.

The Thruxton supremo - earning his reputation around the infamous speed-bowl having claimed three previous poles at the circuit - went marginally quicker than MG's Josh Cook after setting a 1 minute 16.814 second lap.

Just 0.034's separated Jordan and Cook at the top of the timesheets while a further 0.4's came between the times from second to third. It was Subaru Team BMR's Colin Turkington who launched the ever developing Levorg into the top three, despite coping with straight-line speed issues.

Turkington's effort narrowly trumped the second Motorbase Ford of Mat Jackson, who made a late charge up the timing page into fourth.

Speedworks Motorsport's Tom Ingram found himself engulfed within a West Surrey Racing sandwich in sixth as Rob Collard, Sam Tordoff and Jack Goff ended the session in fifth, seventh and eighth.

Eurotech Racing's Jeff Smith enjoyed the honour of being the top Honda runner to emerge from the opening session in ninth ahead of the WIX Racing Mercedes A-Class of Adam Morgan in tenth.

Morgan managed to hold onto his tenth place despite bringing out a late flag. His Mercedes A-Class returned to the pits having sustained substantial damage to the front right of the machine.
