Thruxton: Remainder of Thruxton races to be shortened

As a result of the 'unseasonably high track conditions' TOCA - in consultation with Dunlop - decide to shorten the race length of the remaining BTCC races at Thruxton.
The two remaining British Touring Car Championship races at Thruxton will now run at the reduced length of 12 laps, rather than the original 16, after a series of tyre failures prompted a measure from series organisers TOCA.

Dunlop had produced a specific tyre for the demands of fast and abrasive Thruxton layout but the 'unseasonably high track conditions', rising to 33 degrees has imposed an even greater load to the rubber.

That was highlighted a number of punctures, which dominated the landscape of the opening race. Matt Neal's tyre failure caused a huge amount of chaos and triggered a messy multi-car pileup.
