Speedwork Motorsport's Tom Ingram has maintained his impressive start to the 2016 British Touring Car Championship campaign after dictating the pace during the first free practice session at Oulton Park.

The Toyota Avensis driver has already been on pole position for two out of the three BTCC meetings so far this season and looks in prime position to continue his Saturday form.

BKR's Aron Smith has led most of the FP1 running but a brace of hot laps from Ingram late in the session saw the Speedwork's racer rise to the top with a 1 minute 26.049 second lap.

Thruxton race two winner Andrew Jordan completed the top-three order after narrowly bettering the time of defending champion Gordon Shedden in fourth.

Jack Goff was the highest placed BMW in fifth position for West Surrey Racing while Hunter Abbott and Daniel Lloyd both impressed at this early stage of weekend in sixth and seventh.

Sam Tordoff made it two WSR 1 Series' to make it into the top-ten with the eighth quickest as MG's Josh Cook and Subaru's Colin Turkington completed the top-ten just behind.

All four Subaru Levorg's ran for the first time since withdrawing from Thruxton event one-month.

The BMR squad have since rectified the high pressure fuel rail issue having completed an extensive test at the Pembrey Circuit.
