Dave Newsham's return to the British Touring Car Championship is set to last a round longer after remaining with the Power Maxed Racing squad, in place of Kelvin Fletcher, at Rockingham this weekend.

Newsham stepped in for Fletcher last time out at Knockhill due to the imminent birth of the former soap-star's first child.

However, with Fletcher still waiting upon the arrival of his first born, Newsham will remain with the Chevrolet squad for a further three races.

The 49-year immediately settled back into the championship at his home round after qualifying in the top-ten before taking a best finish of seventh.

"The response before I got to the track was overwhelming on social media, and after I arrived, well it went to another level," said Newsham.

"I didn't think anyone would really miss me, but I couldn't have been more wrong, thankfully. I can't wait to get back in the car at Rockingham."

Since Knockhill, Newsham had already declared his intentions of returning full-time to the BTCC and subsequently announced his withdrawal from the British Rallycross Championship yesterday [Monday].

"Longer term, I want to do everything I can to get back to the BTCC. The chance to have another weekend in the championship I love is perfect though we will all be thinking of Kelvin and his partner, awaiting some happy news," the 49-year old concluded.
