Silverstone: Jordan 'eyeing a win' from fourth

Having posted his best qualifying result of year with fourth, Andrew Jordan says returning to the top step of the BTCC podium is very much on his agenda.
Motorbase Performance's Andrew Jordan takes delight in posting his best qualifying performance of the season so far as the former British Touring Car champion eyes a return to the winners circle at Silverstone.

Fourth position in today's penultimate qualifying session of 2016 marked the Ford Focus ST driver's best Saturday result since this time last year at the very same Silverstone venue.

Brimming with confidence, Jordan is adamant he can race forward from fourth as the 2013 BTCC champion chases his first victory since Thruxton earlier this year.

"I'm very happy with that," Jordan told Crash.net. "I think we got the most that we could out of that session. Three Swindon engines in front and we got the most out of our car. We can race forward from there. I'm eyeing a win from there, that's my agenda.

"Anything can happen and a lot of the time it does but we should have a solid day from starting where we are. I'll be disappointed if I don't get a win tomorrow. We've got the car capable of doing it."

Knowing where he can optimise his best chance of making through his way through the leaders tomorrow, Jordan predicts the battle at the top could prove a 'feisty' affair.

The Motorbase driver is still in mathematical contention of taking this seasons title but admits 'he's got to nothing lose' from being 57-points adrift from Sam Tordoff.

"The Swindon engines are looking very strong. We've been coming with a set-up for tomorrow to make sure we've got some front tyres left for the end of the races. It could get all get a bit feisty up there," Jordan continued.

"I'll try to let it settle down for a couple laps then start making a move. I know where our car is strong and where we can get runs on people. It's the first time in a few rounds where we've got the pace and can show it.

"The car is very good through the quick stuff at turn one and so on. We're just trying to work on that and trying to look at where we can overtake. A lot can happen but we've done the hard work today. That should give us an opportunity to score well.

"I'm not coming here viewing I'm in championship contention. I've got nothing to lose either so I'll get stuck in if needed. If it does get feisty at the front I'll come in and pick up the pieces.

"All the same, we'll play the long game and make sure we've got something to fight with at the end of the race."
