Silverstone: MG excluded from race one result

Ashley Sutton has lost his race one win at Silverstone after MG are excluded from the result due to a 'technical infringement'.
The Triple Eight Racing MG outfit have been excluded from the race one result due to a 'technical infringement', meaning Ashley Sutton loses his second British Touring Car Championship win of 2016 at Silverstone.

The infringement in question is said to relate to the alignment of the rear-wing on both MG6 GT's.

MG's exclusion means Tom Ingram picks up the win while Andrew Jordan and Rob Austin complete the podium in second and third.

Despite losing first and second, Sutton and Cook will both contest the second on the ballast allocated [75 and 66 kilos] as virtue of their position on the road.

MG are said to be appealing the decision made by the stewards - ensuring the result remains very much provisional.

The provisional result could have some bearing on the championship as MG's exclusion has meant title leader Sam Tordoff further extends his lead by another two points.

Race two gets underway at 14:32.
