Silverstone: Jordan seeks repeat of Silverstone form at BTCC finale

Andrew Jordan: We've owned it pretty much all day. The car has been good, I've driven well, engineers have done a good job and the strategy has been pretty much spot on.
Andrew Jordan has left the penultimate weekend at Silverstone in buoyant mood after a double podium finish has sparked a late surge of momentum into his 2016 British Touring Car Championship campaign.

The Motorbase Performance driver arrived at Silverstone trailing the title summit - led by Sam Tordoff - by 57 points. But Jordan's second win of the season has helped move the 2013 BTCC champion within 31 points of the championship leader.

Jordan scored more points than anyone else at Silverstone after also finishing second and eighth either side of his impressive race two win.

The Ford Focus ST driver was one of the leading runners to benefit from MG's dramatic exclusion in race one, which moved Jordan up into second having originally finished in fourth.

"We've owned it pretty much all day. The car has been good, I've driven well, my engineers have done a good job and the strategy has been pretty much spot on," Jordan told Crash.net.

"We came in 57 points behind the leader and now we're only 31 behind. It's been a big point's gain for us. I've got no pressure though so I can go to Brands Hatch and try to have a day like I've had today.

"I might be in the mix in race three, I don't know. I'll still be on a high from today [Sunday]. We've been quick all weekend so I'll be carrying that confidence through."

Knowing the title still remains something of a longshot, Jordan says that will allow him to simply focus on conjuring a Silverstone-esque performance without any pressure.

The Motorbase outfit proved a potent force around the Brands Hatch GP layout last season after Mat Jackson almost won all three races at 2015 finale.

"I've got no pressure so I don't need to think of the championship. We just need to come up with a good set-up and roll out like we did here and lead the team forward.

"We've been the strongest car in the team this weekend. We need to do that again and see where that gets us."
