General manager for sports marketing for BMW UK Peter Walker says he is delighted with the news that Team RAC is to campaign the BMW 320si in the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Although the 320i made its BTCC debut last season in the hands of Martyn Bell, the new 320si was only seen in the World Touring Car Championship where it carried Andy Priaulx to his second straight title.
However, RAC will now field two of the cars in the BTCC for the 2007 season with Colin Turkington
being partnered by a driver yet to be announced.
With the 24-year-old aiming to build on his third place finish last season, Walker said he was delighted to see the front running team elect to run the 320si this season.
“The BTCC is a series renowned for its close, competitive racing and last year's championship, with eight different race winners was no exception,” he said.
“We are delighted that in the hands of WSR the BMW 320si WTCC will be entering the fray on the domestic front, whilst we endeavour to secure a hat-trick of world championships internationally through our continued works team involvement in the WTCC.”
