Jason Plato made it two wins on race day for the SEAT Sport UK team at Snetterton with a near lights-to-flag win in the second race of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship race weekend.

Plato led for all bar around 100 metres in the race, briefly slowing at one point to allow Darren Turner to take a point for leading across the line to secure his fourth win of the year and jump up to second in the championship standings, behind the man who finished third in the race Fabrizio Giovanardi.

Plato had held the lead off the start and established himself out front before a Safety Car period eroded the lead built up by he and Turner. Turner's misfortune on the restart however would benefit Plato when Turner suddenly slowed with a puncture, enabling Plato to drive away from the rest of the field for a comfortable victory.

Colin Turkington ended the race in second place having taken advantage of problems for the cars ahead to climb up from fifth after the opening lap. Having slipped a place, he took fourth on lap three when Tom Chilton was tagged by Fabrizio Giovanardi and both cars dropped down the order and then took third from Gordon Shedden when he ran wide at Coram on lap 17 – holding the place to the flag despite the best efforts of Giovanardi, who stormed back through the field to secure a fine podium finish – albeit one that was aided by the intervention of the Safety Car to close up the pack.

Rob Collard continued his recent solid form in a race situation when he finished in fourth place having spent much of the race dicing for position with Turkington while Matt Neal recovered from being tipped into a spin at Riches by Steven Kane to reclaim fifth from the second Motorbase man in the closing laps.

Kane settled for sixth ahead of Mat Jackson and a recovering Shedden, with Mike Jordan and Adam Jones rounding out the points scorers.

Just three cars retired from the race, with Andy Jordan damaging his car in contact with Harry Vaulkhard and both Erkut and Alan Taylor falling foul of mechanical issues.
