Turkington takes lead with second win

Colin Turkington has moved into the lead of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship after securing a second win of the weekend at Oulton Park

As was the case in the opening race of the weekend, Turkington led throughout as he converted his pole position into a dominant lights-to-flag victory.

The Team RAC man came under pressure from defending champion Fabrizio Giovanardi in the early stages after the Vauxhall man stormed through to second when the lights went out, but as the race wore on, the Italian faded away as Turkington secured victory by more than seven seconds.

Behind the top two however, the battle for third raged throughout, with Jason Plato coming under attack from the points leader Matt Neal for much of the race. The pair were joined in battle by Jonathan Adam who stormed through the field and was with the Chevrolet and Vauxhall by the finish.

Despite contact between Plato and Neal on more than one occasion, the Chevrolet man held on to take third while Neal beat Adam in a drag-race to the line to secure fourth.

Andrew Jordan secured sixth place after holding off the challenge of James Thompson, while Adam Jones, Paul O'Neill and Alan Morrison rounded out the points – the latter scoring for the first time this year. Morrison had looked like missing out on the points when Mat Jackson came through the field into the top ten only for the Racing Silverline driver to be forced into retirement.
