However, the Italian couldn't find a way past and followed Nash and Turkington over the line, with former SEAT Eurocup runner Nash becoming the eighth different winner this season.
That win would only stand for a matter of hours however, as race stewards investigated the incident between Nash and Collard in the closing stages. Ultimately the decision was taken to exclude Nash from the race – making him the second BTCC rookie to lose their maiden win this season – handing victory to Turkington, with Giovanardi and Neal completing the podium.
Andrew Jordan and James Thompson took fourth and fifth, while O'Neill eventually took the flag in sixth. Adam Jones, Adam and Dave Pinkney were seventh, eighth and ninth, while Nash's exclusion ensured tenth place – and a first BTCC point – for Martin Johnson.
Behind Johnson, John George, Gordon Shedden
– who suffered a late spin – and the delayed Plato completed the finishers. Mat Jackson
failed to take the start.
