Chilton takes first win for Global Ford
Tom Chilton gave the Global Ford Focus its maiden victory in the opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Knockhill.

Chilton started from pole and led throughout, despite a mid-race Safety Car period, before eventually taking victory by more than six seconds as the field behind battled for position.

Fellow front-row starter Matt Neal took second place despite his hand injury as he saw off the challenge of team-mate Gordon Shedden. From fifth on the grid, the Scot forced his way past Frank Wrathall on lap one and then got ahead of Rob Austin on lap two.

Despite his best efforts however, Shedden couldn't get into second place and took the bottom position on the podium, although the result means the Honda pair are now level on points in the championship.

Wrathall was a fine fourth in the Dynojet Toyota ahead of a charging Rob Collard, who was involved in an incident with Mat Jackson at the chicane, which ended with the championship leader picking up a puncture. The Motorbase man went off at the hairpin as a result before pitting for a new tyre, which meant he finished down in 19th place and outside the points.

James Nash was sixth ahead of Jason Plato, who was another man forced wide by Collard at the chicane, while Tom Boardman, Andrew Jordan and debutant Aron Smith rounded out the scorers.

Austin's run in the Audi came to an early end when he was involved in an accident with Tom Onslow-Cole as the pair battled for position through Clark's. Heavy contact with the barriers saw both cars retire and caused the deployment of the Safety Car while the debris was cleared and the cars removed from the circuit.
