Shedden extends lead with victory

10 June 2012

Gordon Shedden increased his Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship points lead with victory in the second race at Oulton Park.

The Scot ran third early on before getting ahead of Mat Jackson and Rob Collard when they clashed at the hairpin and then held on ahead of Jordan to extend the lead he had taken after race one earlier in the day.

Jordan repeated the result he had gained in race one with second place ahead of a storming Jason Plato, who came through the field from the back of the grid to secure the final position on the podium after battling ahead of the Proton of Dan Welch.

Fourth for Welch was still his best result to date since joining the grid last season, while Matt Neal and Nick Foster rounded out the top six.

Lea Wood showed impressive Oulton Park form again to finish seventh in his BINZ Racing Vauxhall while Liam Griffin was a solid eighth. Tom Onslow-Cole was ninth after his dramas in race one with Dave Newsham completing the top ten.

Adam Morgan retired after a high-speed spin at Cascades caused by brake failure while Will Bratt failed to build on his earlier points with an off at Knickerbrook on lap three.
