Jordan wins after late drama
12 August 2012
Andrew Jordan took his first win of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season after a dramatic second race of the weekend at Snetterton.
Jordan took victory after a clash between Jason Plato and Matt Neal on the penultimate lap gave him the opportunity to jump ahead and he duly held on through the final lap to secure victory.
Plato had led throughout but was struggling in the closing stages to keep the chasing pack behind. Having backed Neal, Jordan and Gordon Shedden up behind, Plato was tagged by Neal going through Coram and got sideways which allowed the Honda man through only for Plato to then hit Neal back at Murray's meaning both ran off track.
That gave Jordan the chance to get ahead into the lead with Gordon Shedden also getting through into second, with Plato rejoining in third and Neal in fifth behind Frank Wrathall's Toyota. Neal managed to get back ahead of the Dynojet man into fourth but couldn't catch Plato who completed the podium finishers with Neal, Wrathall and Mat Jackson rounding out the top six.
Sixth was a fine result for Jackson, given that his new Ford Focus hadn't turned a wheel prior to Friday's opening practice session, with Tom Onslow-Cole, Dave Newsham, Lea Wood and Aron Smith completing the top ten.
Wood will start race three from pole after WTCC front-runner Rob Huff drew nine as the reverse grid.
