Dave Newsham took his first win - and the first for Team ES Racing.com – with victory in the final race of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship weekend at Snetterton.
Newsham ran second to Lea Wood early on before making a move for the lead on lap four and he was never headed from that moment onwards, going on to secure a comfortable victory despite easing off somewhat on the final lap to make his winning margin smaller than it arguably should have been.
Wood had looked good to join Newsham on the podium but gearbox issues forced him to retire, which instead left Tom Onslow-Cole
to secure second for the eBay Motors team as he matched his best finish of the season to date. Gordon Shedden
followed him home in third place to secure the championship lead, but was then excluded from the results for a turbo overboost issue and remains second in the standings heading to Knockhill.
Jason Plato was therefore promoted into third place and is now just ten points off the championship lead, while Mat Jackson
took a stunning fourth for Redstone Racing in his new NGTC-spec Ford Focus. Andy Jordan and Aron Smith completed the top six.
Points leader Matt Neal
endured a trying race after contact with Frank Wrathall on lap one saw him spin to the rear of the field although he fought back to take eighth after Shedden's exclusion and retains the championship lead as a result.
