Turkington doubles up

23 June 2013

Colin Turkington made it two wins from two at Croft with victory in a challenging second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend.

With rain falling, Turkington led from the start before being overhauled by the MG of Jason Plato – which had started on wets. Fellow MG driver Sam Tordoff also went with wets and was quickly up to second.

However, the rain would soon stop and conditions swung back towards the slick-shod runners, with Turkington soon reclaiming his position at the head of the pack.

Despite the best efforts of Gordon Shedden to find a way through, Turkington was able to see off the challenge of the defending champion to clinch his second win of the day and third of the season.

Tom Onslow-Cole clinched his third podium of the year in third, with Mattt Neal fourth after a late battle with Rob Collard and Andrew Jordan; Collard taking fifth from Jordan at the final corner.

Nick Foster was seventh after another strong run in his BMW with Adam Morgan, Jeff Smith and Dave Newsham rounding out the top ten.

Plato and Tordoff were both lapped and came home down in 20th and 21st places.

In the Jack Sears Trophy, David Nye took a first win from Lea Wood and Jake Hill after a race-long fight between the three.
