Jordan wins chaotic second race

4 August 2013

Andrew Jordan came out on top in a chaotic battle to win the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Snetterton.

Running on the soft tyre, Jordan worked his way up the field with a series of robust moves to lie second behind Colin Turkington's BMW.

Turkington was forced to defend hard to keep Jordan – and the train behind him – at bay until Jordan eventually took the lead when the pair clashed going onto the back straight.

The Pirtek Racing man was then able to break away to take victory ahead of Matt Neal and Aron Smith, with Neal taking second on the final lap. Third however was still Smith's best result to date this season in the improving Ford.

His team-mate Mat Jackson took fourth ahead of Adam Morgan's Toyota, with Turkington down in sixth and defending champion Gordon Shedden – who was involved in a series of frantic battles on track before taking seventh.

Dave Newsham was eighth and will start race three from pole position thanks to the reverse grid draw.

Jason Plato had led the early stage of the race before a mechanical issue forced him out shortly after a Safety Car period called when Liam Griffin went off at Riches.

Rob Collard retired after contact from Shedden damaged the suspension on his car while Jeff Smith collided with Rob Austin and was forced out after then being hit by Newsham'a Toyota.
