Neal secures second win

Matt Neal doubles up with a second win of the weekend at Rockingham
Matt Neal make it two wins from three with victory in the final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Rockingham.

Neal started from pole, and although he lost the lead at the start, the Honda driver soon battled back into the lead ahead of the Ford of Tom Onslow-Cole and was able to lead the race in its entirety to become a double winner on race day for the first time since 2006.

Onslow-Cole held on to second until five laps from home when pressure from Paul O'Neill finally paid off and the sunshine.co.uk driver was able to get through to secure the first Independent victory for the team and the best result to date for the Tech-Speed team. Onslow-Cole's hopes of a podium were dashed late on when he ran wide at Deene and dropped down to seventh.

That allowed Steven Kane to take third place ahead of Andrew Jordan and Jason Plato, who leaves Rockingham as the championship leader going to Brands Hatch next weekend for round three.

Rob Collard took sixth ahead of Tom Onslow-Cole, with James Nash, Andy Neate and Tom Boardman rounding out the scorers.

Gordon Shedden was forced to retire after being punted off into the tyres at Deene by Collard after twelve laps, while four drivers failed to make it past lap one.

Dave Pinkney and Alex MacDowall clashed at Chapman, seemingly after Pinkney had been hit by Matt Hamilton, while Tom Chilton and Mat Jackson sustained damage after contact at Pif Paf and were also forced out.

Im definately not a Matt Neal fan but he did good today, it's beginning to show that the Honda Civic isn't very good at carrying the success ballast. It's also a good lesson to him that if he drives clean he gets good results. A bit of factual knowledge for the die hard fans: Only two drivers have finshed all 6 races in the 2010 championship in the points, they are Jason Plato & ??? Paul O'Neill. Jason is doing what is expected really, lets face it he is mighty in whatever he drives. As for Paul he is doing something a little bit special in an older BTC spec car! Keep it up Paul good to see ya get your first independent win for Sunshine.co.uk!
