Tom Chilton secured the first victory for Team Aon's Ford Focus with a lights-t0-flag win in the first Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Brands Hatch.

Chilton started from pole and was never headed, fending off a fast-starting BMW of Rob Collard when the lights went out and then controlling things from the front - despite two Safety Car periods. It marked the first victory for a Ford in the series for some ten years.

Gordon Shedden proved to be the closest challenger to the Ford driver as he secured second for Honda, battling ahead of Collard on the second lap and then fending off Tom Onslow-Cole in the second Ford as he settled for third. However, the marked a fine result for Onslow-Cole following his troublesome showing in qualifying.
