Onslow-Cole wins Silverstone finale

Tom Onslow-Cole wins race three at Silverstone
Tom Onslow-Cole completed a Team Aon clean-sweep with victory in the third Dunlop British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Silverstone.

Onslow-Cole took the lead of the race after battling past the pole-sitting Honda Integra of Paul O'Neill following a Safety Car period caused by Martin Depper slamming into the stalled Chevrolet of Alex MacDowall at the start.

Once ahead, Onslow-Cole controlled things from the front to take a popular victory ahead of O'Neill, who did well to stay in tough with the LPG-powered Ford.

Mat Jackson took third after a strong move for position on Tom Chilton, which saw him drop behind both Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden to finish sixth. Neal had earlier been involved in an incident with Jason Plato that saw the pair collide at Copse on lap one, with Plato plummeting down the order as a result. He would battle back up to finish ninth – behind Steven Kane – with MacDowall rounding out the top ten despite the damage caused by his shunt at the start.

Elsewhere there was disappointment for Andrew Jordan, who retired after an incident with Kane and Rob Collard – who also failed to score.

Phil Glew missed out on potential points on his return when he was handed a drive-through penalty while John George had run inside the top ten before retiring with engine problems.

Well done Tom Onslow-Cole! Personally I hope that he goes on to win the championship - his team-mate is the clear favourite but can't match him for pace and that is the same situation at Honda where Sheddon is a classier act than Neale who is a liability whenever the red mist comes down, which is most of the time! That leaves Plato and frankly he just moans that bit too much, although he would also be a deserving champion.
