Mat Jackson took victory in the opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park.

The Redstone Racing driver worked his way through the field to secure his first win of the campaign in a dramatic opener that featured a number of changes in position at the front.

Rob Collard led early on in his eBay Motors BMW after a storming start from fifth on the grid saw him lead into Redgate for the first time, but he would be shuffled back down the order after contact while Jason Plato and Jackson tried to make a move stick at the Chicane.

Jackson would then pull away at the front with the Hondas of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal second and third; the pair having also got ahead of Collard and Plato at the same time as Jackson took the lead.

Plato was fourth in his MG despite trying to find a way ahead of Neal in the final laps, whole Tom Onslow-Cole held off Andrew Jordan on the run to the line for fifth; Jordan having earlier been slightly delayed when he got sideways at the first corner.

Dave Newsham, Aron Smith, Frank Wrathall and Collard rounded out the top ten.

Further back, Lea Wood and Liam Griffin retired after an incident on the opening lap while Tony Hughes suffered damaged suspension after a clash with team-mate Adam Morgan. Rob Austin retired with engine issues and is out of the remainder of the weekend.
