Plato doubles up at Brands

Jason Plato doubles up with his second win of the day at Brands Hatch
Jason Plato doubled up with victory in the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch.

Plato led from start-to-finish in his MG6 and would have been comfortable out front had it not been for a late Safety Car period to retrieve David Nye's Ford from the gravel at Druids – which backed the pack up before a two-lap blast to the finish.

Having seen off the challenge of Rob Austin off the line, Plato controlled things from the front and would emerge victorious ahead of Andrew Jordan's Honda in a carbon copy of race one, while Gordon Shedden rounded out the podium following a fine drive through from the rear end of the field.

Jeff Smith was a fine fourth in his Pirtek-run Civic with the top six completed by Matt Neal and Sam Tordoff.

Adam Morgan took seventh and will start race three from pole thanks to the reverse grid draw.

The was disappointment elsewhere for Austin, who retired with suspension damage following a clash with Wrathall, who would retire in the gravel himself after rubbing wheels with Neal at Druids.

Wrathall had enjoyed an action-packed race up to that point, having earlier clashed with Colin Turkington's eBay Motors BMW at Paddock Hill Bend.
