Team Halfords driver Dan Eaves once more showed the Team Dynamics Integra Type R to be the current class of the field in the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship by taking the first race of the day at Thrxton.
The front row of Tom Chilton and Jason Plato had made the early moves away from the rest of the field, but Chilton suffered a puncture on the seventh lap, leaving Plato with Eaves nailed to the tail of the SEAT Sport UK Toldeo.
Just like at Donington Park, the orange Integras were looking very good with their tyres and Eaves kept the pressure on Plato before executing a perfect move up the hill to the Chicane.
Plato kept the pressure on for a number of laps, but ultimately was unable to keep his speed, and the second Integra of Matt Neal which had worked its way into third place despite carrying maximum success ballast was closing in.
Colin Turkington was the lead VX Racing Astra, whilst 2003 champion Yvan Muller fought off a robust attack from James Pickford on the final laps to take sixth.
Chilton returned to the track with new rubber to come in with tenth place.
