Oulton Park - Free practice (2)

Jason Plato topped the second practice session at Oulton Park, but it was a bad session for anyone with the surname of Jackson as both Mat and Ollie ended their track time early.
A much drier track greeted the BTCC drivers for the second practice of the day at Oulton Park, with Jason Plato again setting the benchmark time but now some ten seconds faster than he achieved in the wet conditions of the earlier morning session.

Mat Jackson went off in the Ford Focus at the Cascades corner on his first lap out to cause the session to be briefly red flagged. "My fault, I just lost the back on cold rear tyres," he explained. However, it means he will have no dry running ahead of qualifying later today.

Later in the session, Ollie Jackson went off at the same point at a much higher speed when his front brakes failed and he locked up the rear wheels overcompensating. "The damage is surprisingly light but the big worry is not knowing what caused the failure in the first place," he said afterwards. The damage caused to the safety barriers caused an early end to the session after just half an hour of running.

Andy Neate was another driver in trouble, his MG6 suddenly skewing left and hitting the barriers at the chicane under braking. There was considerable damage to multiple areas of the car and Neate conceded that it would be "a bit of a job on to fix it in time for qualifying."
