WS: Danielsson completes Comtec line-up.

World Series by Renault newcomer Comtec Racing has finalised its first line-up by adding Sweden's Alx Danielsson to the already confirmed Edwin Jowsey.

Danielsson brings experience to the British squad, having raced in the World Series last year, even though his season got off to a bad start with an ankle-breaking accident in the opening round. He returned after missing a couple of outings to score second place on the streets of Bilbao, and had set his sights on a possible GP2 Series ride for 2006.

"We had a GP2 deal, but that fell through at the last minute and it all looked a bit dark and gloomy until this opportunity arrived," the Swede admitted, "Comtec is a great team with a good pedigree from other categories, though, and they have no other intention than to be a winning team. I am very impressed with their preparations for the upcoming season and I believe that this will actually be an even better opportunity for me to advance my career.

"I am looking forward to working with great names like Roly Vincini, my engineer for this season, and Martin Donnelly, who I have only heard good things about. They have tremendous experience between the two of them, and I am sure that will benefit my development as a driver."

Comtec team boss Jonathan Lewis is well aware of the Swede's own abilities, and has apparently been tracking him for sometime.

"I have followed Alx's career with a keen eye - ever since he took pole position from our guys at the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch," he explained, "It was an easy choice to make when Alx suddenly became available. We have tremendous respect for his abilities and we are really looking forward to this season."

The deal between Danielsson and Comtec was helped along by the Swede brokering a new sponsorship deal with one of the world's leading gaming companies, Safepay, which owns and operates no fewer than five of the most heavily populated online poker sites, including EuroPoker.com.
