Red Bull has officially confirmed that American driver Colin Flaming is to leave its Junior Driver programme with immediate effect, ending his association with Carlin Motorsport's World Series by Renault team at the same time.
Despite lying seventh in the WS point standings, Fleming - a former FRenault team-mate of Scuderia Toro Rosso compatriot Scott Speed - has decided to explore other opportunities that have been presented to him, both in Europe and his native America, and is currently evaluating the best possible options for next season.
Not wanting to be tied to certain championships, the 22-year old asked to be released him from his Red Bull contract, but said that he remained thankful for the drinks brand's assistance in his way through the ranks.
“I am grateful for everything that Red Bull has done to help me in my racing career,” he admitted, "And we have not ruled out the possibility that we might do something together at some point in the future. It has been a great experience.”
