WS: Vettel gets nod for Carlin.

Red Bull's links with Carlin Motorsport's World Series by Renault squad will see F3 Euroseries frontrunner Sebastien Vettel replace the departed Colin Fleming for the championship's next double-header, at Misano, on 15-16 July.

Although the team has yet to confirm the appointment, Red Bull let slip that Vettel - a BMW protégé who has tested for WilliamsF1 and is currently at Jerez with the German company's works team - will fill Fleming's seat for at least the next two races. The former FBMW champion had a seat fitting at Carlin's Aldershot base before last weekend's F3 Euroseries round at Brands Hatch, but his first outing in the WS car is not expected to come until the series' group test in Misano next Friday.

Despite lying seventh in the WS point standings, Fleming has decided to pursue other opportunities in Europe and the USA, and has been released him from his Red Bull contract.

Vettel completed over 80 laps for BMW at the latest F1 test in Spain on Wednesday, helping BMW prepare for next weekend's French Grand Prix.

"This was obviously a special opportunity for me, but I just tried to take it easy and concentrate on my job," he said, "The whole day went really well, and I was able to learn a lot, particularly on tyres."
