Dani Pedrosa arrives in Motegi fresh from the best fight of his MotoGP career, getting the better of Valentino Rossi in a back-and-forth battle over second place at Aragon.

"I had a lot of messages from people saying that I should ride like this more, so we hope we can do another good weekend here!" Pedrosa said on Thursday.

Early season arm-pump surgery effectively eliminated Pedrosa from championship contention, but he has four more chances to avoid what would be a first winless grand prix season since 2001.

Indeed, the Spaniard has more wins than any other rider at Motegi having taken two MotoGP victories, plus one 250cc and one 25cc win.

"After the last race, it's good to come to this track where I enjoy riding and have some wins in the past," he said. "We know that the Yamahas are very strong at every race track this year, but it's a good track that I like and when you enjoy it more you can also perform better.

"We don't know exactly how the bike will work in this race but we will obviously try our best and have to start tomorrow positive."

I hope he enjoys this feeling while it lasts because, something tells me that Rossi won't let that happen again. Rossi had waaaay to much to lose by gambling with Dani last time out. Now, Rossi needs to gain as many points as possible and will throw down if that's what Dani truly wants. I'm sure Rossi will be more aggressive next time. We'll then see if Dani is truly up to the task of battling the GOAT!
