Beltran backs Haslam.

Beltran backs Haslam.

HM Plant Honda team boss Havier Beltran has thrown his support behind Leon Haslam after his exclusion from the second race of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship weekend at Oulton Park.

 4 people agree.

Fairly restrained comments fron Leon after being disqualified.

Must've gotten a rocket from the "Rocket"!

"Racing is racing" but Leon is letting the adrenaline rule too much.
I think they all realise he has gone "a step too far", but of course his team and boss are going to defend him publicly. Behind the scenes, who knows?

I was at Knickerbrook and saw the Incident first hand, Felt really sorry for Tom Sykes you could tell he could not believe what had just hapenned, He was racing brilliantly and surely would have won the race - maybe Shakey may have caught him we will never know. Cheers Leon you spoiled a good race !!

While I believe that we should all give our support to the race stewards and marshalls for the work they do I am increasingly dismayed at the constant ongoing "sterilisation" of racing. Some of the finest most exciting racing I have ever seen involved the odd occasion of faring bashing and forceful passing, indeed sometimes taking a chance makes for good racing but too often these days any contact even minor rubbing of the faring brings out an exclusion or other sanction.

Do we really want to turn motorcycle racing into an F1 style procession because that is where it is heading unless something is done soon

I know where your coming from Nigel and agree with your sentiments, but I honestly think Leon is getting where he is verging on being reckless. He isn't doing himself any favours being as agressive as he has been so far. His attempted overtakes on Tom at oulton park yesterday was crazy there was no way Tom could make the corner once Leon made that move. Like Rolfey I was watching at Knickerbrook and couldn't believe what I saw. Overtake, yes, pass a rider who makes a mistake, yes, run a rider off the road, NO. 2 meet's in he's wrecking his own, Tom Sykes and Karl Harris chances. Shakey's real "streetwise" and what's happening is gonna gift him the title cheap if Leon don't clean up his ac)

how can you say tom would have won the race, he admitted after the race that his pace was slower than haslams and that he probably would have been caught by shakey.

it wasnt even him who made the protest, it was rizla suzuki who did that, leon will bring it round, maybe its too far for him to win the title but he can act as perfect rear gunner for cal....

I'm a big fan of Leon, but there's no doubting that was a wild move on Sykes, and one he must've known he couldn't pull off. And I was disappointed with his comments about the crash, saying Tom knows how it is - poor guy didn't see that coming!!!

Having said that, I like the guy's commitment....at least you know you're in for a race with him

Haslam couldn't win a raffle. The problem is he thinks he is better than he actually is. Every year he is outshined by his team mate and its already happening again this year. We all enjoy watching a bit of faring bashing but that move at the weekend was unreal. I mean, that was lobotomy time.

i dont think that race exclusion was enough he should be put on probation and one more suicide move and he is out!!!!

it is a joke that the most reckless racer in the series family business is a race school i think leon needs to go back for some more classes.
