McLaren have been stripped of all their points in this year constructors' championship and handed a $100 million fine, following the World Motor Sport Council spy hearing today.
Thanks for holding back before posting the news as fact unlike autosport.com

I'm a Ferrari fan however, I must say I'm glad that the drivers are not penalised. Except I wish for the rest of the season Mr. Hamilton keeps his mouth shut or someone shut it for him. Perhaps Alonso will do it behind closed doors.

partially correct, both drivers should lose their points too, after all they won them in a now disqualified car. and before anyone says otherwise i am a mclaren fan. maybe they will learn a lesson.

$100mil is a lot given that now they won't get any money from the TV rights or anything, so its going to be a lot more than that too. If they are banned from scoring in 2008 as well subject to this report you could well see sponsors defecting and leaving McLaren with nothing. I'd love to know what this evidence was....

What a surprise, bias ruling due to Ferrari staff on the board, bitter and twisted by the success of Mclaren this year. Completely corrupt, and where could a figure of $100m come from, how has this figure been reached?? simply making sure Mclaren dont have the avaliable budget for next year, so they can blitz Ferrari again. I am outraged at the ruling, and this is simply appalling for the sport. Bitter Bitter Ferrari.

From no punishment to a very severe punishment - quite a swing.
Do you suppose they got their britches in a bind when they found out that McLaran did not come clean last time?

That's a nice round number!!!!---just out of interest where does the money go---who actually gets their hands on it? The next question is---can McLaren appeal it? Finally can we get on with the racing so McLaren can thrash Ferrari's *rs*? Too much too hope for I suspect.

If McLaren are running their business as a business they must surely be thinking if it is worth it and should they not just leave F1 altogeather.
If you were a sponsor, would you want to put your money with a team that, from what this verdict shows, are cheats...?
Nor me...
McLaren you have got a lot of brand building to do again if you carry on...

So Ferrari wine constructors title and Alonso oops..no, Hamilton... wines drivers championship. Alonso will be on a war path to beat Mr. Spic & Span to the title. Should make for exciting racing.

Absolutely disgusting. The only person bringing the Sport into disrepute is Max Mosely. If McLaren are guilty and have benefited then obviously so have their drivers, so why penalise the Team and not the Drivers! If Maclaren are guilty because of one person in their team, then so is Ferrari for the behaviour of Stepney. As usual it is typical double standards by the FIA who like to show their "muscle".

f#@k mclaren.....looks like they've been hit in the balls.....they shud get their drivers disqualified as well since the points they scored were in a car disqualified.....
i think the money shud be given to struggling teams like spyker

It has ruined the championship - if McLaren win its tainted, if Ferrari win its because they went crying to the FIA. It's a shame, it was turning into a good championship as well...

So why was Hamilton at the hearing and Alonso wasn't... what the hell is going on...
This is not the end of the spy saga I feel, by a long way.
Guess this will have driver repercussions too... Alonso has a 'positive image' clause in his contract, which is now tarnished. So back to Renault then?

Plus I feel bad for the mechanics and everyone in the team who merely do as they are told - the loss of money won't hurt the drivers or the rich team personnel, but I bet the average joes will feel it...

This is as stupid as the Indy F1 GP in 2005
Be good to hear what the full justification is? and why this wasn't reached first time round?
