'Determined' Hamilton ready to renew battle.

'Determined' Hamilton ready to renew battle.

Lewis Hamilton is stronger, more determined and surer than ever of what he wants as he heads into the 2008 Formula 1 season – and that, he says, is all thanks to his experiences in 2007.

Hate to repeat myself (unlike some) but this is much more what you expect when a front-runner is interviewed by someone from the motorsport press. There are only ever three off-season interviews with drivers - the front runners "looking forward, confident, good car", the hungry midfielders "looking forward, confident, need the right tools" and the pre-retirement old guards "stil have much to give".

Sadly, I expect someone to somehow interpret a straight forward interview (including some respectful comments about FA) into a rant about choking and letting the talking happen on track. If all drivers let the talking take place on track, October-March would be really quiet for F1 fans.

If Hamilton kept quiet for a few days the British spin media would save a whole forest of trees by not having to print this nonsense everyday!

In my last post there was nothing obscene in my comments, but it appears the censor didn't like my wording,I will rephrase it,Jenson was very arrogant, and rather sure of himself,

I agree Robsy, and about time. Maybe he read Kimi's interview, and took notes.

lewis could be another one hit wonder. if maclaren could maintain the excellent quality of last year's model, lewis could be the world champ. but history doesn't say so and F1 history has a tendency to repeat itself, maclaren has never being able to maintain its excellent performance.

'maclaren has never being able to maintain its excellent performance.' Leaving aside your inability to write in English, this is probably the most stupid statement I have ever seen on a site that specialises in idiots. Congratulations mr mopt.

Here is an omen for you. The last rookie to have finished second in his debut season has gone on to win the World Championship in his second season, and that man is Jacques Vileneuve. I think Hamilton is going to be fired up after what has happened last season plus he knows the circuits so setup won't be problem and there will be hopefully no politics!!

Dear mr_motp, you need to read a bit about F1 history... I'm NOT A FAN of McCheaters but they used to be bullet proof... remember the 80's and late 90's?

Sure Mc Laren have an amazing championship winning record in the last 8 years. Titles just come out of their ears.

Lets not forget Ferrari's 20 year dry spell shall we Chu? You know, when they were consistently rubbish? Why can Lewis not get interviewed without being accused of shooting his mouth off? he answers the questions truthfully and still shows alonso the respect he deserves. I hope he is able to develop the car enough to make another great season and not a boring, boring redwash.

I don't think there's any driver left who answers anything truthfully... Too much politics involved these days. This interview could be any driver really, he says absolutely nothing. Which is a clear improvement in his case.

With LH, it's like people are waiting for the new MS, for the next guy to dominate F1 for the coming decade. But most likely there will be no new MS. There was JMF in the 50' and MS in the 90/00's, maybe Senna, but apart from that there hasn't really been any particular dominant driver. Which is a good thing, right? I like (yes, LIKE) Ferrari, so I liked watching MS win, but now I'm looking forward to tight and exciting racing between a number of very talented racers.

racingbod, i dont like LH, but i dont think he s guilty for last year. i blame RD and his dictatorial antics. he thinks racing is a running a company; that s only true until the engines start. And it s during the races when RD shows his weaknesses. He made wrong decisions all year and handed ferrari a chship that should ve been mc laren s
i agree with Thoma; few drivers (if any) can speak their minds in public - Montoya did and lost his job

I quite agree that RD wanted to crown Lewis Boy King when the Reigning Monarch (Fernando) was still sitting on the throne and living in the same palace (Mclaren's). A sure sign of acute short sightedness & forsight. Last season McLaren invested in the World Champion but failed to cash in on their investment, prefering to concentrate their efforts on a rookie who although a very good driver, still had a lot to learn on what really makes an F1 World Champion.
