Blundell tips Massa to lift 2008 laurels.

Felipe Massa has received a boost as the 2008 Formula 1 season gets ever-closer to roaring into action Down Under in Melbourne in a little over two months' time, with former grand prix ace Mark Blundell tipping the 26-year-old for world championship glory.

Don't agree with Mark I'm afriad. I think that now Kimi has had a year with Ferrari he will be more settled into the team. Also, I think that with Stefano Domenicalli running the team rather than Jean Todt (whos son manages Felipe) the environment will be much more comforatble for Kimi to make his own.

I think this year will be between Raikkonen and Hamilton for the championship. Don't think Massa will be too far away though and can see Alonso getting stronger as the season goes on - both picking up race wins.

I think it also depends on how the 2008 car will be developed. Will Ferrari build for Kimmi or will they listen more to Schumacher? Massa knows how to drive a Schumirarri. Kimmi wants his own car.
Can't wait for the season to start. To get a normal rhytmn again. ;)

I do not agree that Fernando has destabilised McLaren last season. McLaren had a dream pairing in Lewis and Fernando, the latter expecting to restore the fortunes of a team that failed to win a race in 2006. McLaren could have won everything in 2007, instead they went from one drama to the next and a great team with the proudest of records ended up beaten, humiliated and forced into an abject apology. A $100 million fine, in-fighting, feudes, points deductions, exclusion from the Constructors' Championship and lost appeals meant that they had it wrong from start to finish. They invested in the World Champion but failed to cash in on their investment. How could anyone destabilised McL anymore?

Further, I think that Massa is a great driver and he stands a good chance of being one of the major contenders for the Championship. But before we start demeaning Fernado, let's see what Renault shall come out with in the R28. Fernando was the guy who toppled Michael Schumacher, the very best of technical drivers ever, from his perch of seven times World Champion, two years in a row. I would like to see any other driver achieving this. The Boy King still needs a lot of grooming before he becomes World Champion, so let's hope that HK performs, Massa goes flat out to win, Kimi wakes up a little more and Fernado to have a good car.

I believe that Kimi will be unstoppable, given that he'll have a car that's as good as last year's car. I do not rate Fernando that highly, although he's got two things that nobody can take away from him- and that is 2x WC. Yes, FA beat MS couple of times, but you need to remember that the first time it happened Ferrari was forced to race on one set of Bridgestone tires, thus making them a mid-pack car. The second time around reliability prevented MS from taking the 8Th WC. HK will come into his own, and will outperform LH on regular basis from a midpoint of the season, outside of Kimi he is the fastest man on the grid. MB is a "never has been" turned into self proclaimed pundit.

well I reckon its far to early to be making predictions. Massa will be fired up and wanting to win it more than ever before but I dont think Kimmi will just give it up, he'll want to dominate the season rather than hang in there and hope for others misfortunes. The big question mark is Alonso and Regie, he was contracted to Mclaren and could have stayed but I believe he got some info from FB that made him sit up and listen...but its to early to speculate on who will be where, just makes the Jerez test that bit more intersting

I disagree with almost everything MB said. First he rates KImi lowly as he says he will not have the drive after winning a chship. Then the usual crap about Alonso. We all saw what McLaren did to him. HE made the car a winner and a reliable one. Then he says Massa is so talented ... Massa cant drive in the wet for a start. And he s been fast whenever he was out of the fight for the chship. Usually cracks under pressure. Massa better have a good season or he s out because i think Ferrari want FA.

Hmmm, I'd have to disagree with mark. Massa hasn't shown himself to be in the same league as Alonso or Raikkonen for consistency in changing conditions. His victories seem to look effortless but everything has to be perfect for him to win.

i would love to say i agree.. but i cant :( massa dont have the consistency of drivers like raikkonen over a season, and now raikkonens settled in he will most probably have a much easier time, and also massa cant drive around problems like raikkonen, everything has to be perfect for massa to win.. sorry to say :(

i think massa could easily fight for a championship, he had a lot of bad luck this year, think australia, hungary, monza, japan where he produced some of the best on track action with kubica of the year and france where he hit bad luck in traffic, then letting raikonen win in brazil

all what ifs, but he had a lot of bad luck to blunt his challenge this year, my opinion anyways, i rate him highly also he seems to be better in the wet this year as well,
