There have been increasing whispers and rumours within the motorsport world in recent weeks that former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve has split from his long-time manager Craig Pollock.
It is too bad he didn't split with him prior to the BAR fiasco! It shows a lot for JV's loyalty but it was career suicide.

sad ending for a very talented driver ... this thing might never happen if renault didn't pull out from williams in 1998, or if williams react fast enough to replace the renault engine with something competitive ... jv might have lost his confidence when he was't able to defend his title with dignity. he never bounce back.
My thoughts exactly Mark. He could have found a real seat with a top team after Williams gave him a Mecachrome wheelbarrel to drive with, not a back of the grid Arrows. What a waste of a career IMHO

Let's hope JV does something good in NASCAR this year, he's been running well in testing and previous races so hopefully he'll mix it with Montoya and Franchitti whne they all get together at Daytona.
He should enjoy it more than F1 anyway!
Sad he should split with Pollock after all these years though.

something he should have done a long time ago. in fact, he should have done that back in 1998. williams gave him nothing to drive with and he could have had a top drive in 1999. what if jordan had approached him thatyear, and not frentzen?
by the way, it was not an arrows but an even further back tyrell.

Hope Villeneuve can do something this year, he's really been drifting for the past few seasons therefore Pollock wasn't contributing anything to his driving career at all.
If this split with Pollock is anything to go by, it seems they've split up on bad terms so I hope JV does something good with himself now otherwise everyone will say that Pollock wa sthe man who got him places not JV himself!

Villeneuve knew Williams had thrown their hat in with BMW in '98 as they were actively planning \ building their Williams BMW Le Mans challenger team for '99..it utilised too much resource and the Renault \ Meccachrome engine had no updates all through '98. The whole car was poor in '98. I suppose Honda seemed a better bet than any future prospect with BMW as, so Pollock said, the 'Reynard Honda team is built around Jaques.' I assumed BMW remembered that fact when they reluctantly took up his services via Sauber...or simply, as Jock Clear stated when he was pushed from Honda, 'maybe, he is just beyond his best now ??' I only know that I preferred his driving to his attempts at singing :-)
It is sad when a good driver disappears from the scene (F1), I sort of hoped that he would be back, but not now, i rated him a far more competitive driver than e.g. David Coulturd! who is constantly c.r.a.p., but there you go F1's a funny thing anyway, some people stay and some go whether they are good or not!!!!

yes even tho he was having a good year at BMW until he was replaced, but BMW were insistand on Kubica and Nick despite performance. shame he was always public enemy no.1, not always of his making. but he could of helped himself a bit more.
Was a great talent. his Rookie year was very impressive as he knew very few tracks, which todays rookies from GP2 do(rosberg, lewis etc)

I'll never forget him taking his car sideways through Eau Rouge and getting away with. I personally think that's one of the most impressive things I've seen in F1. He probably had problems with motivation every now and then though but when he really wanted to race he was incredible. Hope the closer racing NASCAR can bring out the devil in him again.

Not just having it sideways, but destroying the Williams in 1998 through Eau, then both JV and Zonta destroying a BAR each in 1999!

The problem is that JV and CP have not got on since LH arrived on the scene.Jealousy between the two has festered. LH who was jealous that he could not take part in the Nascar series to try to win it as well as the F1 series to prove that he was a better driver than JPM simply made them an ultimatum.Either go your separate ways or I send my dad around!!!KR and FA agreed and said that there was only room for one driver/manager pairing and that was Ron(the Hitman)Dennis and Lewis(the Choker!!!)Hamilton. Disagree at your peril! You have been warned!!!!!

villeneuve was one of the most fearless f1 drivers ever. he had shades of giles when he entered the scene. he had skill as well because i saw the spa 98 gp. i also saw the havoc at the first turn leading up to eau rouge and saw that the only front running drivers to survive were him and schumi. the rest were not in the race. he was never the fastest driver but when he wanted to, he would be unstoppable. he should fair very well in nascar. close racing and tight overtaking moves galore. by the time he retires for good, he may have won a nascar title.
