Jenson Button has confirmed his belief that the Honda team has closed the gap on its rivals after one final pre-Melbourne test, but refuses to get too excited about his prospects in the opening rounds of the new Formula One season.
For a loyal Honda fan the lack of enthusiasam dosn't do much do much for are hopes of a upturn of fortunes for us fans. Now we hear two Managers are leaving I know we now have Ross Brawn on board but come on Honda give us fans something to cheer, not more doom and gloom

Honda is in trouble and they know it. After pre-season testing for 2008, it doesn't seem that much if any progress has been made over last season. It has been reported that chief designer Kevin Taylor has been let go after Jorg Zander returned as deputy technical director. The problems within the organization may be far deper than originally taught.
Ross Brawn seem to have his work cut out for him. This year will be another tragedy for Honda and it seems that Ross has a mammoth task in front of him that shall take a few years for Honda to rebound from.
Adding a few bits here and there a few days before the first race is an exercise in futility and both JB and RB know it.
Jense, hope the car improves enough through the year to where you can possibly win one. Good luck, mate.

It just aint going to happen this season & I reckon JB will be off soon - he can't afford to wait another two years for RB & Co to get the team into gear. Good luck Jas, you're going to need every bit of it this season!

Is this the last year of Jenson's contract (with a 2 year option)? If so what are the opportunities available further up the grid and does Jenson have the power to be the key to the driver market? I imagine the Alonso to Ferrari rumours will have more strength. I think Honda are still paying the price for BAR discarding all the Tyrrell experience.

Well if anyone can turn Honda around it's Brawn. He was a key part of Ferrari revival in the late 90's. They were not in as much trouble as Honda but Brawn was a key part in making them all but unbeatable from 2000-2004. But turning Hondas fortune around may be to much even for him.
Hopefully for Super Aguri they are not getting last years Honda. Honda may need to take back the 2006 car to have a chance to make it to Q3.

Give it time i say. Ross Brawn is just getting started. I really don't have high hopes for this team this year but if there's anyone that can turn Honda around it should be Brawn. He's already started reorganizing the people now to go into a specific design direction. I expect next year's car to make good strides forward. Jenson could probably wait 1 or 2 years. Too bad time's not exactly on Barrichello's side.
