Walker: We'll compromise.

Australian GP organiser prepared to move start time, but not floodlight venue.

Sounds good to me. What about you Bernie? Hands off our GP ! Let the rest of the world get up early for one measly GP every year for gods sake.

Let's face it, it does not really matter if we bend over backwards for Bernie and do whatever he wants us to do, as he has already decided that he can make more money by taking the race to Russia or Korea or the Middle East. This has very little to do with anything other than Bernie's greed.

I heard today that the preferred time for Bernie would be to start the race at 9:30pm Aussie time, which would make it around lunchtime in Britain. However, who would go to an F1 race that was scheduled to finish at around midnight on a Sunday night? What about the residents around Albert Park who may want to sleep at that time? (The track is in the middle of a residential area!)

With Bernie apparently wanting to move GPs to the Far East, does this mean they will all have to become night races then?

With the Australian Grand Prix now scheduled to start at 5.30pm Melbourne time, it means that our GP will be starting 30 minutes later than the Japanese, Chinese and Malaysian Grands Prix. Is Bernie going to threaten those countries that they might lose their races if they don't have a night race?

There seems some hypocrisy or maybe stupidity here. F1 has introduced a renewable fuel component into cars fuel so F1 can show it's green credentials but at the same time advocating to run a race at night that would consume 10,000 times the energy that F1 is supplementing via their renewable fuel component.

I think the Melbourne organisers could very well turn the tables here and put pressure on F1 via the global environmental movement about the total energy consumption of the F1 circus so the best action may be for BE and MM to back off and do it quickly.

Further to my previous post I will ask a question to which I already know the answer.

What will happen if it rains at this proposed night race?

Well what will happen is there will be no race.

MotoGP has just had their maiden night race and the contingency in the case of rain was there would be no race.

I suspect it would be because of the floodlights and the refraction/reflection of that light on the water droplets will make driver vision almost impossible at speed.

So I ask BE and MM what would happen in the case of rain at an F1 night race???
