Qualifying times - Malaysian GP.

Ferrari locks out front row as Hamilton struggles.

Good effort by both Toyotas to get into the top ten, especially Trulli. Fantastic drive. I'm sure Webber will also be very pleased to outqualify his team mate yet again as well as make the top 10.

Not a good day for anyone else but Ferrari really. Raikonnen was awesomely fast on Q2, Massa in Q3. Wonder what sort of strategy their running though. But on today's form they're gonna walk it,reliability withstanding

The Mclarens must be heavier on fuel than the Ferraris. If it rains tomorrow, the fuel load might not be significant. I wonder how much fuel Kimi has over Felipe?

dave, always reckoned that toyota could be a dark horse. wonder if any help from ferrari???? they tested together. to give him his dues, DC did a good job considering that he had two cars go to pieces under him, in the last week

As a Toyota owner, I need to see a podium out of them. After the comments made by Alonso a couple weeks ago about Lewis, it sure is nice to see him down the order, and was really pleasing to see last week that he couldn't make it around SEBAS (take that 2-time world champ)

go villa

Disclaimers first: I do think he's a great driver and I don't know the difference in their respective fuel loads, but if they turn out to be quite similar it's got to hurt for LH to be outqualified by Heikki already in the second round - particularly given the time it took HK to get up to speed with GF.

That said, I didn't watch the quali myself, so maybe I'm way off here. Maybe LH made a mistake?

Quite a few nice surprises here otherwise, but the major disappointment has to be Williams...

I'd like to see a reply from the person who disagreed with my comments about Toyota and Red Bull having had a good qualifying session. You think it was a poor effort? I'm not a fan of the Toyota team by any stretch of the meaning. They pour more money than most teams into F1 and have made little improvement over about 10 years, they also make some of the most boring road cars in the world, but the effort from their drivers today was outstanding and deserves to be recognised.

It's particularly interesting given the fact that Trulli only has two skills: Fast qualifier, and damn near impossible to overtake. Should be good entertaining!

Excellent result, especially the fact the two McLaren's are now in the middle of the pack, should be acracking race.

lisa, turn on the television next time. the two cars were on the racing line when ALL other cars were keeping away from it. imagine coming round a corner at speed and finding a slow moving car in your way. then multiply this speed by 4 or 5 times!

Rich ard, nice response but i wouldnt bother myself, you can see from the use of CAPITALS TO SAY EVERYTHING that the person typing has no grasp of life, and judging by the grammar, is about 12.

Blatant fanboyism. I want Lewis to win the title seeing as Nico wont, but even i know that penalty was just.

How's that computation again for time discrepancy in relation to fuel weight? Might give us a good idea how much less fuel is on board Massa's car. I'm guessing 3 or 5 laps shorter against Kimi because of the half second gap between them.
I'm not so sure about the McLaren cars though. Seems like HK outdid LH judging by the very close times they posted. Not to mention how smoother HK's car looked in qualifying. But i do reckon they are running bigger fuel loads than the Ferraris. Getting through the traffic will be their job.
Trulli should be very light as he's almost 3 secs under Glock.
It should be an interesting start tomorrow and excellent racing throughout. Good luck to all!

alan, i am accused of being your buddy, but i will take issue with you on one item. FM, when he is in a good mood, is faster than KR in the same car and with the same fuel load. i think that their fuel loads may be similar and FM was just faster. tomorrow will tell

Yes Massa CAN be fast... no question there. What he lacks is the consistency to do it the same way all the time. If you notice world champions are those who can be counted on to do something fairly consistent over a season.

Take last season for example, when the Ferrari finally found it's speed advantage, FM couldn't bring in the consistent results like Kimi did. Sometimes he was up there and other times he'd just be all over the place. I like his attitude and all but i don't think he's ready for Ferrari.

But then again, i could be wrong. We'll all find out in a couple of hours

So like this is the start of the real year now that Ferrari has qualified at the top. What a bunch of bull. And Alan if you are talking about being a world champion being counted on then kimi must have been a major disappointment last week. Both Ferrari drivers are in equipment they do not trust at the moment. The two of them drove like they were in their first grand prix last week. What makes you think that is going to change this week?

Yes Kimi indeed was a dissapointment in Australia. So was Massa. They did drive like newbies but i'd rather have them do that now than at the last 2 races of the season!

The whole Ferrari organization are not mindless robots. I'm very sure they learned their lessons and will be trying to avoid those mistakes. Just like i'm sure that McLaren won't lie to the WMSC again!

And yes, they might not trust the equipment but they have to take it to race don't they? So trust or no trust, they will be there on the grid. If it breaks down again, well that's their luck. If they do go on to take the win you'll have to come back to this forum and i'd like to hear what you think of them then.

Never mind Massa because he is starting to become a joke now.
