Pit-lane disaster ruins Hamilton's hopes.

Pit-lane disaster ruins Hamilton's hopes.

Traffic, poor pit work and Finnish flair torpedo Hamilton's Malaysian victory bid at Sepang.

How about overheating your brakes in the first stint, and taking some of that responsibility on your shoulders? It's not a mechaics fault that you were overheating your brakes. I have not see the same problem on your mate's car. Anyway, HK is eating your lunch, and will continue to do so because he is a better pilot.

What has over-heating brakes got to do with a broken wheel fixing?
How do you know the cause of the over heating? It could be a number of reasons.

Lewis would have over taken Kovi it had not been for this part malfunction, the TV commentators said 2nd place would have been his, not Kovi's.

Look at the amount of time Lewis lost, he was catching Kovi, big time - but obviously as you hate Lewis so much, you forget this.

Cant see anything that states it was his aggressive use of the brakes, rather it says it was the gun that malfunctioned. But I can see the thinking as the plumes of brake dust when the wheels came off was quite substantial and a hell of a lot more than anybody else out there but then i've always seen LH as a heavy braker, which is evident in his constant locking of the front wheels.

Grumpy Doctor - cant see how second could have been his...1 - he had to catch the others. 2 - he'd have had to gotten past them and that we all know is different from catching them....

Why every time your journo's mention Ron Dennis
do you have to refer to him as the " 60 year old ? "

do they have a problem ?

Even the brake dust don't necessarilly mean he overheated his brake i my opinion.
Could it be possible that the gun had something like an air leak that blew the dust all over the place and had it look far worst than for the others drivers?
It could be possible that it was simple part faillure, even if i do hope that Lewis have a crack in his driver skills somewhere. Kimi would have it eassier like this... ;)

My engineers told me the problem was that since we couldn't use the Ferrari front wheel pant blueprint we pinched last year, we had to use our own design that wasn't so good.

Stop listening to those has-been TV commentators like that second rate Mark Blundell, who was a has-been as a driver when McLaren ditched him for Coulthard. There is no way Hamilton, you know him as St Lewis, would have got by me for second. I would have had a radio failure so I couldn't hear Ron having a fit trying to tell me to stop and wait and then let pass your St Lewis pass me.

How many seasons is an Adrian Newey designed, Renault powered car going to tool around in the mid-pack before someone realizes that the Webber/Coulthard combo is long past it's sell by date.

Daniel, this is the first Newey designed Red Bull. Give it some time and they will be front runners. Webber did well today considering he had to pit earlier than expected and had an air pump problem. I didn't see Webber making as many mistakes as Massa and Hamilton. Put Mark in either of those cars and he would have nailed them yesterday.

oscar,
My post was funnier than the one from the Fernando Alonso impersonator. You would see it but you don't have a sense of humour.

his pitstop was unlucky and had nothing to do with over-heating brakes, but did anyone else notice the constant locking up of Hamiltons front tyres? was that because of trying to hard or not setting the car up correctly? - as i saw no other driver locking up constantly like that...

Dont ALL F1 cars suffer "inheret understear" when following closely to each other? I cant wait for 2009 when maybe we will see over taking on the track instead of in the pits!

Daniel are you saying Webber is past it? Wasn't he nearly 2 seconds a lap quicker than LH in last years wet Jap GP untill Mark was hit by Vettel during the safety car?

I think Lucifers comment says it all. I think you are all missing the point massively. LH was clearly way faster than Webber but trailed round for 20 laps not able to overtake because of the impossibility in F1. I am a motorSPORT fan in general and laugh every time I hear the commentary making a point of a driver leading his first F1 race (only because the actual leader has just pitted, bizarre). This is not sport, the fans are the ones who have the power to change F1 for the better, just stop watching for a year, at least it would get Bernie and co listening, when his revenue drops like a stone. I love the noise, speed etc, but a sport. Non existent.

So true sleepy. But I don't think many people who watch F1 know any better (judging by the 13 people who agreed with Fernando Alfonso. Where is the evidence his brakes were overheating. It looked to me more like a problem with the gun, as it was swapped. Use your brain)

Luckily F1 does seem to be very slowly losing popularity and ITV dumping it before it's contract was even up perhaps gives an indication of this also.

The sport part of motorsport has clearly been forgotten by F1.

Has anyone queried as to why Lewis favoured the softer tyre compound on the first pit stop ? When clearly by his own admission the harder compund tyres were far superior, or am I missing something ?

It did look like the air gun malfunctioned or maybe it wasn't set correctly. When these pnuematic guns stall the compressed air can exhaust through the body of the device. This could be why you saw the brake dust being blown from the wheel assembly. I noticed that the onboard cameras showed Lewis's front left tyres were always heavily worn also the same wheel was always airbourne on left handers. He just didn't appear to have a set-up. The Ferraris looked awesome.

Why is it that some people do not have the ability to call a spade a spade. Ron Dennis said that the squad had been unable to reveal its real potential as a result of scrapping in the midfied. What a load of horse manure coming from a team principal no less.
During the race Kovy moved effortlessly from 8th to 3rd place, and Lewis moved from 9th to 5th after having passed Webber and Heidfeld in the pit stop. He could not oveertake iether Webber or Jarno trulli during the race, both of whom showed some superior driving skills to his. What exactly does Ron Dennis mean by scrapping in the midfield? that they should have simply moved aside to let his boy get past?

Another comment whichdoes not make sense was Lewis' "We were in a good position for a shot at third place at least....."
We? who are we? As far as I know Lewis drives for McLaren and McLaren finished 3rd through Kovy
At the start Lewis passed Fernando, during the race Massa dropped out, and in no way could he overtake Webber and Heidfeld, he only did so during his pit stop, he could not overtake Trulli in the Toyota. How on earth was he expecting to pass his teammate for third place.
Also the ITV guys said that he could have got 2nd place. Kubica comes in the equation here. Do these drivers exist for these so impartial ITV commentators?
KR, RK and HK won fair and square, and JT? wow

Webber showed he is no goose in the less than brillient RB. Hamilton could not even show a wheel inside Mark.... I think Hamilton will struggle more in 08 without the traction control. Webber will be on for a win I predict when we see some wet tracks and possibly a podium even in the dry if he can qualify a little better.... he drove much smoother than Hamilton! ;)
