Flav: Alonso point 'no consolation'.

Flav: Alonso point 'no consolation'.

Flavio Briatore has insisted Renault has much work to do if it is to gain ground on its competitors in the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship, after picking up just a solitary point in Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix – a race it won back-to-back in 2005 and 2006.

perhaps this is now a realistic indication of how good the electronics which renault used really was.... well: it seems as if it really was the very very finest of electronic launch, electronic breaks, electronic stability, electronic engine control... etc...

Perhaps it is true what some people in the paddoc said over 2005 and 2006: take the toys away and some people will disappear from the front row...

Realistically speaking, thats what schumacher lost out to... : a tremendous package of electronics.. jeje

viva alonso(not! the brat faced monkey )

Seems that they were gambling on a wet race by going with a heavy fuel load. If they are going to gamble they should go with light fuel load to get up there in qualifying.

well dont agree with the brat face... looks more like a .......to me but jokes besides:

It seems like a fair indication to me to say that now without electronic gizmiz Alonso isnt really anywhere to be seen.... after all the big words Down Under.. big 4th place... for christ´s sake.. there where only 7 left....

unfortunatelly, I have retired to Spain, and here FA just cannot do wrong...

I for one think, and that after decades of watching F1, he always seemed to need that special something to allow him to go further, and that´s what Senna, Prost and Schumacher simply had in their heads...

And Fernando can only win with an ASS up his sleeve - which is now missing.

remember, Alonso is in a crappy car that was developed by Fisi. He has done more this year in the crap renault than fisi all year last year. I wouldnt say FA sucks, he did after all bring "6/10ths" to the mclarens. Hard to really judge someones skill when they are competiting against others in different packages.

Look at Vettel and Bourdais. I think if you threw Vettel in a Mclaren or Ferrari, that kid would ace the grid. But sadly, he is in an unreliable car. Hekki couldnt do anythign in the Renault last year, this year he is fast.

Give FA some time to develop the car and I think renault will be back on top. Hopefully top 3.

I was surprised to see Alonso not all that far ahead of Piquet by the end of the race, especially as he qualified considerably better. It can't be good for Renault though when he's constantly berating them it seems - at the end of the day they took him to 2 world titles, so they know how to win. Perhaps the mid-field is just a more crowded place now, especially since Toyota and Honda seem to be belying their pre-season pace as well. We shall see... Alonso just seems to be covering his back a lot at the moment IMO with comments about not being surprised by the car's lack of pace.

I am going to change my name as there are too many versions of my name viz: Fernando Alonso plying this forum. So from now on I am no longer "Fernand" but Nando Alonso. It's cuter and my girlfriend loves it.
In Malaysia I qualified 9th but found myself 7th on the grid due to Heiki and Lewis having been demoted 5 places. A bit of his own medicine really but a waste of time in the end because I knew that both would fly past me at the start.
Still I kept my cool in the oven of my ****pit and finsished 8th as Felipe flopped it again. Poor kid!! But still no one else overtook me and I took home one point.
Big deal you might say. It is really, considering that Kimi only won it with just 1...

....last year.

There's nothing I can say against Renault they gave me 2 WDC's in 05 and 06 and I gave them 2 in return plus the CC as well.
I chased Mark Webber for a few laps in the closing stages but he proved to be faster in the Adrian Newey RBC which incidentally uses the same engine as us. Goes to show how important the aero's are.
No wonder Lewis could not overtake him. One on one the RBC and Webber are fast.
Toyota did surprise me. I wonder if I had lost an opportunity not to go with them this year, but they did not offer enough to entice me. Possibly a mistake on both sides, who knows?
Well, can't win them all I suppose. MS won 2WDC's then had to wait 4 years for his next 5.

Yes, 4 years he had to wait, first there were Damon and Jacques in the Williams then came my favourite driver Mika Hakinen who took 2 in a row just like me.
Then MS took 5 in a row and it had to be me to break the spell. People flocked to me in 05 and 06, kissing me and giving me all sorts of things for breaking the Schumaher monotony years. Ah well, he was a great driver.
Talking about Williams, whatever happened to this outfit? They were dominant for some years, now they seem to be much worse than us, and McL? My old firm? Well its been a long time since they took the big ones home. Eight long years is a long time, ask Ron.
Anyway I hope that PS and FB get their finger out for Bahrain.

Hi Fernand, I like your new name. Nando sounds good.
Smashing overview, I liked the part about your old firm. Old Ron is fumimg at the present BMW situation which is robbing him fair and square of points. Serves him right.

Keep up the humour, it's good for this otherwise boring forum.

Flav reminded me to tell you that Lulu is more important than me to Formula 1, so that is why i let him past. I could easily have stayed ahead of him, but Rons voice in my radio kept saying "look after my son"

Hey Nando, you need to shut up and stop adding fuel to the fire. My seat at Ferrari is secure as I have a 3 year contract. Ferrari have told me they have no room for cry babies. You don't need a seat at Ferrari, you need a seat in a stroller. Everyone spins out on the track once in awhile. I gave it too much gas and my tire must have touched the grass. When I had traction control, that would never had happened. You don't see me saying I want to fire my mechanics when Kimster and my car broke down in OZ.
