Bernie 'sorry' for Aguri as qualifying changes.

Bernie 'sorry' for Aguri as qualifying changes.

Bernie Ecclestone has expressed his regret for the demise of Super Aguri, as the reduction of the Formula 1 grid to just 20 cars from this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix has necessitated a change to the qualifying system.

First off, let me say, I don't care much for Bernie Eccelstone. That being said, he's been able to gin up untold millions for the participants of F1, as well as himself. BBE, F1 hardly generated any money. Teams and drivers were not the recipients of millions. Many a driver and team owner has become extremely wealthy in F1 ABE. Although I don't care for it, I believe most racing series benefit from a strong dictator at the helm. Contrast the success of Nascar to that of Champ Car. Need I say more?

Not sure if I agree with you there Jim, however it should be said that Aguri-san himself has stated that he's had a lot of help from Bernie, both financial help and help getting in contact with potential investors. So it's not all bad.

I'm sorry - Did Bernie say that one less team would be good because the other teams need room for hospitality tents? I'm sad to see the smaller teams forced (well, who would invest in them?) off the grid to make way for the new 'maunfacturers F1'.

bernie says"we dont want twelve teams, we want ten teams" maybe this is why he allowed SA to go to the wall. any other prospective team entering the championship better watch out.

So does Bernie have to distribute less money with one less team?

No one has mentioned that McClaren has benefited from SA's absence by getting their pit spot.
