Lewis Hamilton has expressed his jubilation at finishing second in the Turkish Grand Prix – a race he had at one point looked like winning – confessing that he had expected to take the chequered flag no higher than fifth and calling it his ‘best race ever'.
Nice to see him trying a more aggressive stratergy. He's one of the best in Formula 1 at overtaking so McLaren should do this type of stratergy more often if they want to disrupt Ferrari who are fastest on race pace.
It also makes the GP less of a procession ...which is always good!!
(Would have liked to see how Heikki would have done in comparison aswell ...at least McLaren can have some hope now going into the next 2 very important races!)

Im not sure about Lewis' overtaking skills, he was very good in GP2 but from what ive seen its a bit reckless (Monza 07 against Kimi)
As for Heikki, apparently he was easier on tyres and would have been able to do a 2 stop, so i quite fancy him to have challenged Massa for the win - his pace was on par with the leaders when he was in clear air.

Not a bad race for Hamilton at all. If Bridgestone hadn't have dictated a 3 stop strategy today, it could've been a win!
It's fantastic to see overtaking in F1 and for the lead too!! Hamilton has always not been afraid to pass when he really needs to (just goes how hard it must be to pass at Bahrain) and I would rate that pass just behind the one on Kimi at Monza last year. Despite the above comment, neither were reckless and I suppose when your fighting for the lead you take the risks you don't take for 12th place on a curcuit that's impossible to pass on.
Not taking anything away from Massa or Ferrari today, they were unbeatable!!
lewis was good in gp2 n u may call Hammie's overtaking "reckless," but to pass in F1 these days wiv the turbulent airflow from all the aero packages of the car in front the drivers hav 2 take risks...
true true it may not be wot u call "neat" overtakin but for sure it makes the racing more interesting...

Overtaking is always a risk and i cant believe people calling a driver "reckless" for trying to gain a position during a race. I cant remember LH taking anyone "off" during an overtaking maneuver unlike some I could mention like DC.
I think FA and LH are probably the best on the grid at overtaking which is a skill not many drivers seem to have, schumi was the best i've seen at it. I would like to see more of it, it's what makes the races exciting... roll on next season when the racing will hopefully be a lot closer with easier overtaking.
Lexington, i suggest you look up comments about some of David Coulthards overtaking in the past 2 seasons and you will find the word reckless come up a lot.
I understand its hard to overtake, but it is reckless to just send a car up the inside of somebody with your brakes locked praying the other person has seen you like Lewis did in Monza against Kimi.
Matt, i might care about your posts when you can spell without using wrds lyk this cos its rly annoyin nd stupid.

So I suppose it was Kimi's extreme skill that stopped a collision at Monza
STOP CRYING!!!!!

Adrian,
I think that if you re-read Lexingtons post he was saying that DC was reckless. Pity you chose to criticise others when you make silly mistakes like that yourself.

Sorry, i didnt read that one properly, i was trying to defend myself against 3 people calling me stupid.
It wasnt Kimis superior skill, it was the fact that he braked earlier because he had bad neck muscles from his 180mph practice crash just days before. Had Kimi fought for that, im sure Lewis would have taken him out.
Also "Barrie" i dont really know what you are getting at with the silly mistakes. Its only common courtesy to use correct language. Text speak is a British and American thing, so its not a language problem. Its not hard to write properly.

"I am so thrilled with today's result," the 23-year-old enthused afterwards, "and I think this is the best race ever for me. It's not about winning it's about feeling that you extract 100 per cent from yourself and the car and I did that today."
Another arrogant comment, this guy is so full of himself!

err... let's stick to facts shall we and not get into an "if's and buts" debate... if my uncle was a woman he'd be my auntie!!!
On the occasion in question LH passed Kimi, Kimi was taken by suprise, it was a clean overtake and nobody got taken out.
But I did love the "bad neck muscles" excuse Adrian... classic. From what I remember at the time Kimi admitted that he just didn't expect the pass at that place on the track.
Please explain how being happy with your performance is arrogance? Do you actually understand the meaning of the word? I'm sure Massa was also happy with his performance, is that arrogant too? RK was probably happy with his race too today because he wasn't expected to finish any higher and did a fine job with the equipment he had. Is he arrogant for feeling he did the best job he could for the team??
Remember Lexington Steel, some people are determined to read everything into any detail that comes out of Hamilton's mouth. People throw the word arrogance about without really understanding what it means. If it was Kovalainen finishing second and saying the same thing, no-one would bat an eyelid. That's just the love/loathe effect very evident on these forums.
I am stunned how Hamilton can make a pass and people call it reckless. Least he is trying (successfully) to pass, unlike most who just wait behind drivers until they make a stop like many. That's boring racing, at least this adds a bit more drama!! Bring back one stop (or no stop) races to see cars forced to overtake!

I know the definition of arrogant but do you know the definition of sarcasm?
All this Hamilton bashing, especially by the media through misleading titles is a joke, hes a good guy who just likes to race.

Lexinton Steel, Kimi did suffer from a neck injury after his crash in Free practise and it even still effected him at Spa. If you go back to the post race presentation comments, then Kimi said he did know Lewis was behind him. It is just that on the curbs and under the heavy braking your neck suffers the most, and Kimi was therefor not able to do much. He said that he was struggling to keep his head up during the race,(with 4-5 G-forces it means Kimi's head was weighing around 35kg),it isn't easy to carry that weight on a sore neck for 2 hours. However, I didn't believe it was a risky move from Lewis. Racing is about taking risks and chances.
It was a really good race from Lewis today.

OK Lewis did a cool job here but lets not forget Hekki did a great job to qualify for a P2. If not for the tire puncture, Hekki may be on the podium too.

come on, allen and brundell are still wiping the drool off the mouths bacuz LH ended up 2nd. Man, its like when the Americans were beaten by the Canadians in the track relay, their response was "We weren't beaten, we didn't lose, we just came in 2nd!' As BLUNDULL is quick to say, 2nd or 3rd is like a wine for Hamilton'? Oh wow, that's a new one! And brundel and Allen hardly mentioned Massa until the end of the race. Enough is enough, there are 20 other drivers (?) competing to the end of the race and all we hear is "what does Hamilton have to do to win this race." Well, you know what, he's still a 2nd or 3rd fiddle.Heikki would have beat him if he didn't have a puncture.

I'm not a Lewis fan but thought he did a good job today. It seemed a confident 2nd place, too, as opposed to a fluke so good for him. Also I agree that although he can be quite arrogant, there is nothing arrogant about saying he is supposed to - and did - extract 100$ out of the car.

Don't seem to find many people making reference to Lewis now being 3rd and not 2nd in the championship standings, not only Kimi to worry about now but Phillipe too, 28 points from 30 over 3 races. Also thought Lewis was very nervous in the press comference.
